Sussex Family Reunites After Four Years

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have reunited with King Charles III and Queen Camilla during a private family gathering at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King and Queen hosted Harry, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on Friday afternoon, describing the occasion as a “private family meeting.”

The visit marks a significant moment for the royal family, as it is the first time King Charles has seen his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, in person in more than four years. It is also the first time Harry and Meghan have returned to the UK together since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

The reunion comes after years of strained relations following the Sussexes’ decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. Palace sources said both King Charles and Prince Harry were eager to meet during the prince’s UK visit, with the King particularly keen to spend time with his grandchildren.

While Harry attended several public engagements this week, including an Invictus Games event in Birmingham where he met competitors and took part in activities such as pickleball and wheelchair rugby, Meghan and the children did not accompany him to any official appearances.

Prince William did not attend the family gathering. At the time of the meeting, the Prince of Wales was participating in a charity polo match in Windsor. Reports indicate there are currently no plans for the brothers to meet during Harry’s visit.

Harry’s trip had been surrounded by uncertainty due to legal proceedings involving Associated Newspapers, ongoing discussions over security arrangements, and confusion regarding the family’s accommodation in the UK. Despite the speculation, Friday’s private reunion went ahead without public fanfare.

Earlier in the day, King Charles carried out official engagements in Oxfordshire, including visits to the University of Oxford and a space initiative launch alongside astronaut Tim Peake, before returning to Highgrove to welcome Harry and his family.

The private reunion is being viewed as a positive step toward improving relations within the royal family, although wider tensions, particularly between Prince Harry and Prince William, remain unresolved.
