Toby Carvery Set to Replace Beefeater in Fareham

A new Toby Carvery restaurant is planned for the seaside town of Fareham after proposals were submitted to convert an existing Beefeater pub.

The Oast and Squire Beefeater on Peak Lane, which has been on the market since 2024, continued operating while a buyer was sought. It has now been confirmed that Mitchells & Butlers, the company behind Toby Carvery, intends to take over the site from its current owner, Whitbread.

A planning application has been lodged with Fareham Borough Council outlining a range of refurbishment works. The proposals include improvements to the bar and toilet facilities, upgrades to customer dining areas, and the installation of new lighting and furnishings. The exterior of the building would also be refreshed as part of the redevelopment.

Planning documents state that the project has been carefully designed to retain and enhance the property’s historic character while ensuring it remains a successful hospitality venue. The application describes the investment as supporting the building’s long-term maintenance, conservation, and continued use.

If approved, the redevelopment aims to improve accessibility, enhance the customer experience, and modernise the venue while preserving its architectural heritage, bringing a new Toby Carvery location to the Fareham area.
