Claudia rumours spark Strictly controversy
Rumours suggesting Claudia Winkleman is harming the future of Strictly Come Dancing have been firmly denied by insiders connected to the show.
The claims surfaced after reports suggested celebrities are increasingly drawn to Claudia’s other successful programme, The Traitors, instead of signing up for the demanding schedule and lengthy commitment required by Strictly. One unnamed source alleged the BBC dance competition was finding it harder to secure high-profile contestants, partly due to recent controversies surrounding the show.
Despite the speculation, another insider dismissed the accusations entirely, insisting Claudia continues to fully support Strictly even after reports that she and longtime co-host Tess Daly are preparing to leave the programme.
Talk of a hosting shake-up first emerged last year, with Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe widely tipped as possible successors. However, the BBC has not officially confirmed any changes to the presenting lineup.
The discussion comes at a challenging moment for Strictly after the show failed to secure nominations at this year’s BAFTA Television Awards. Claudia recently attended the event after filming the celebrity edition of The Traitors, while Tess has continued making headlines following reports concerning her marriage to Vernon Kay.
Meanwhile, several well-known personalities are said to have stepped away from potential hosting opportunities on the show. Zoe Ball previously revealed on her podcast that she had missed out on the role, while Fleur East admitted she felt disappointed after not being selected.
