Al-Ahli open talks with ex-Liverpool star Salah

Mohamed Salah is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli after ending his nine-year spell with Liverpool.

The Egyptian forward left Anfield this summer after mutually agreeing to terminate the final year of his contract, allowing him to become a free agent. During his time at Liverpool, Salah established himself as one of the club’s greatest players, winning eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League. According to reports, Al-Ahli have made an initial approach to explore the possibility of signing the 34-year-old. Discussions are believed to have focused on Salah’s salary expectations as the Saudi club looks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new season. (Yahoo Sports)

Al-Ahli are eager to bring in a marquee forward after parting ways with Riyad Mahrez, whose contract was recently terminated. The club finished third in last season’s Saudi Pro League and is aiming to challenge for major honours.

Speaking about his future after confirming his Liverpool exit, Salah said he still feels capable of performing at the highest level.

“Honestly, physically I feel I have a lot to give,” Salah told TNT Sports. “I feel very good and my body is in great condition. I’ll take my time and decide what’s best for me.”

While no agreement has been reached, Al-Ahli’s interest marks the latest development in the race to secure the signature of one of world football’s most accomplished forwards.
