MSC Cancels Gulf Cruise Over Security Risks
MSC Cruises has cancelled a scheduled 7-day Arabian Gulf sailing aboard MSC Euribia, citing the ongoing airspace closure and heightened security concerns in the Middle East. The vessel will remain docked in Dubai as a precautionary measure while the cruise line continues to monitor the evolving situation.
MSC Euribia Sailing from Doha Cancelled
In an official statement, MSC Cruises confirmed that the March 1 departure from Doha has been called off:
“Due to the current situation and the air space closure in the Middle East region, we are currently monitoring and reviewing all our operations in the region, and we are in constant contact with the local and national authorities and relevant partners.”
The company further emphasized:
“Our focus is the safety and security of our guests and crew therefore MSC Euribia cruise sailing from Doha tomorrow, 1st March is cancelled and the ship will remain in the port of Dubai.”
The affected ship, MSC Euribia, is currently docked in Dubai alongside Celestyal Discovery.
Rising Regional Tensions Impact Travel and Maritime Operations
The cancellation follows recent missile and drone interceptions over the UAE, prompting several airlines to suspend flights and maritime operators to temporarily halt certain shipping routes for safety reasons.
Maritime authorities have reportedly advised vessels to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways for global trade. As a result, commercial and cruise ships operating in and out of the Arabian Gulf are now in holding patterns, awaiting further developments.

Other Cruise Lines Pulled Out Earlier
MSC Cruises is not the only operator adjusting its Middle East operations. Earlier in July, both AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises — subsidiaries of Carnival Corporation — announced their withdrawal from the region for the 2025/26 winter season due to ongoing instability.
These moves signaled growing caution among major cruise brands operating in the Arabian Gulf.
MSC Euribia’s History in the Arabian Gulf
Despite the current disruption, MSC Euribia is no stranger to the region. The ship has been deployed in the Arabian Gulf for the past two winter seasons, offering itineraries that include popular destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Bahrain.
Situation Remains Fluid
MSC Cruises stated that it will continue to assess the situation in coordination with local and national authorities. The company has reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority.
With regional tensions still unfolding, additional cruise cancellations or itinerary changes across the Middle East may follow in the coming weeks.
Travelers booked on upcoming Arabian Gulf sailings are advised to stay in close contact with their cruise providers for the latest updates.
