Starmer congratulates former Arsenal star on trophy win during PMQs
Sir Keir Starmer used his appearance at Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (15 April) to highlight the success of former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere following Luton Town’s recent trophy win.
Opening his remarks in Parliament, Starmer congratulated Luton Town for their victory at Wembley Stadium, noting the team is now coached by Wilshere, a player widely remembered for his decade-long spell at Arsenal. A well-known Arsenal supporter, Starmer described Wilshere as “a great ex-Arsenal star”.
Luton Town secured a 3–1 win over Stockport County in the final of the EFL Trophy Final 2026 — also known as the Vertu Trophy — on Sunday (12 April). The result marked an important milestone in Wilshere’s early managerial career.
Wilshere, who rose through Arsenal’s youth academy before becoming a key first-team player, has recently transitioned into coaching with the Bedfordshire club, guiding them to silverware at Wembley in a notable achievement.
