Robot Valet Parking Debuts at London Gatwick

London Gatwick Airport has become the first airport in the UK to launch a fully automated robotic parking service, offering travelers a faster and more convenient way to park their vehicles.

Instead of searching for a parking space, passengers simply drive into a private drop-off garage near the airport and leave their car there before heading to the terminal. A specially designed robot then lifts the vehicle by its wheels and transports it to a secure, restricted-access parking area.

Unlike traditional valet parking, customers keep their car keys with them throughout their trip. When they return, the robotic system retrieves the vehicle and delivers it back to the collection area, ready for pickup.

According to Gatwick Airport, the technology is compatible with approximately 95% of vehicle models. The parking facility also includes several security features, such as 24-hour patrols, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), perimeter fencing, floodlighting, restricted public access, and Park Mark Safer Parking accreditation.

The airport says the private drop-off garages and shuttle bus service are fully accessible and comply with the Equality Act 2010, making the service suitable for a wide range of passengers.

The new robotic parking system is designed to save time, reduce the stress of finding a parking space, and provide a secure, efficient parking experience for travelers.
