Ten-Person Fight Forces EasyJet Plane to Turn Back

An easyJet flight from Tenerife to Liverpool was forced to make an emergency return after a large fight involving around 10 passengers broke out on board.

Flight EZY3352 departed Tenerife South Airport shortly before 8:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Approximately 30 minutes into the journey, a serious altercation erupted among a group of passengers, prompting the flight crew to request an immediate return to the airport and ask for police to meet the aircraft upon landing.

According to Spanish air traffic authorities, the captain decided to turn the aircraft back because the disturbance posed a risk to the safety of everyone on board. Flight tracking data shows the aircraft landed back at Tenerife South Airport at approximately 9:05 p.m. without further incident.

Police were waiting for the aircraft upon arrival. Authorities have not confirmed the nationalities of those involved or whether any arrests were made.

An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the flight returned to Tenerife due to a group of disruptive passengers and was met by local police. The airline said the aircraft later continued its journey to Liverpool after the situation had been resolved.

The airline emphasized that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward disruptive behaviour, adding that the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remain its highest priority.

Spanish air traffic officials also expressed support for the crew, noting that such onboard disturbances have become increasingly common and commending the flight crew for prioritizing safety throughout the incident.

The event follows several recent incidents involving disruptive passengers on easyJet flights, including reports of intoxicated travellers causing disturbances that required intervention from crew members and law enforcement.
