Free Santander Cycle Rides Return This July

Transport for London (TfL) is encouraging more people to explore the capital by bike with a special summer promotion offering free Santander Cycles every Sunday throughout July.

Running from 5 July to 26 July, the initiative allows riders to enjoy unlimited 60-minute Santander Cycle trips within a 24-hour period at no cost. The standard Day Pass, which normally costs £3.50, is free when customers redeem the appropriate promotional code.

To claim the offer, riders can find the weekly code on the Santander Cycles discounts page or in the Santander Cycles app. The code can then be entered at any docking station terminal when selecting a Day Pass. A bank card or mobile payment is still required to complete the transaction.

The promotional codes are:

  • CYCLEJULY5 – 5 July
  • CYCLEJULY12 – 12 July
  • CYCLEJULY19 – 19 July
  • CYCLEJULY26 – 26 July

The promotion also applies to Santander e-bikes through the Day Pass scheme. However, e-bikes must be hired using the Santander Cycles app or a membership key, and the offer is available only to registered members. Membership is free and can be created online or through the app.

The Mayor of London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, Will Norman, said the campaign is designed to encourage more people—particularly first-time cyclists—to discover London’s growing network of Cycleways and choose cycling as a convenient, healthy, and environmentally friendly way to travel.

Each promotional code may be used once per person. Riders who keep a bike for longer than 60 minutes will pay the usual additional charges: £1.65 for every extra 60 minutes on a standard bike and £3 for every extra 60 minutes on an e-bike.
