High street brand enters administration crisis

Clothing retailer Quiz has entered administration, putting the future of more than 40 stores at risk. The Glasgow-based company reportedly owed over £40 million when administrators from Interpath were appointed.

The brand, which has operated on the UK and Irish high streets for more than three decades, employs around 565 staff. It currently runs 40 standalone stores across England and Scotland, along with seven concession locations in Ireland.

Following the announcement, 109 employees at the company’s Glasgow headquarters and distribution centre have already been made redundant, according to reports.

Earlier this year, Quiz highlighted difficult trading conditions, pointing to a disappointing Christmas period in 2025. The company also cited broader economic pressures, including shifting consumer behavior, rising business rates, and increasing employment costs.

Its concessions within New Look and Matalan stores are not impacted.

A spokesperson for Quiz stated that the company has filed a Notice of Intention, allowing time to explore potential financing options. For now, operations continue as normal.
