Royal tradition continues with Louis portrait
A new photograph of Prince Louis has been released to celebrate his eighth birthday, continuing a long-standing tradition followed by the British royal family.
The image, shared on social media by his parents, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, shows Louis smiling with his arms folded, dressed in a blue quarter-zip top. The caption read: “Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!”
As with previous years, the Prince and Princess of Wales marked the occasion by publishing a new portrait of their youngest child. Louis, who is fourth in line to the British throne, is the youngest of their three children.

This year’s photo was taken by photographer Matt Porteous during a family holiday in Cornwall, according to PA Media.
The latest image also highlights how much Louis has grown. In last year’s birthday portrait, he was missing his two front teeth, but his adult teeth have now come through.
Previous birthday photos have captured his playful personality, including an image of him in a green V-neck sweater for his seventh birthday and another of him lying on grass for his sixth.
Prince Louis is widely known for his lively and mischievous demeanor. He notably drew public attention during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, when his animated reactions during the pageant went viral and charmed audiences worldwide.
