Princess Charlotte tipped for Royal title role

Royal experts believe Princess Charlotte could one day inherit one of the monarchy’s most respected titles — the title of Princess Royal — following in the footsteps of Princess Anne.

According to royal author Robert Hardman, Charlotte’s personality and position within the Royal Family make her a strong candidate for the honour when her father, Prince William, eventually becomes king.

Speaking to HELLO!, Hardman said there could be “no better model” for Charlotte than Anne, who is widely admired for her dedication, work ethic, and loyalty to the Crown.

Traditionally, the title of Princess Royal is granted to the monarch’s eldest daughter. However, it is not automatically inherited and can only be held by one person at a time. Anne, now 75, will retain the title for life, meaning it would only return to the Crown after her death before it could potentially be awarded to Charlotte.

Hardman noted that another possibility could be the title of Duchess of Edinburgh, currently held by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Still, he believes Princess Royal would better suit Charlotte’s grounded and conscientious image.

Charlotte, who attends Lambrook School alongside her brothers, is reportedly active in sports including cricket, swimming, and tennis. Royal insiders have also suggested Anne has taken a particular interest in mentoring the young princess and helping prepare her for future royal responsibilities.

Observers have often compared Charlotte’s position in the royal hierarchy to Anne’s own childhood role as the second child of the future monarch. However, unlike Anne, Charlotte’s place in the line of succession cannot be overtaken by her younger brother, thanks to modern succession reforms introduced before her birth.

There has also been growing speculation about Charlotte’s future education. Reports suggest prestigious Berkshire-based Wellington College is being considered as a possible next school after Lambrook, which educates pupils only up to age 13.

Education expert Melanie Sanderson told HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast that the Wales family may be exploring several top schools for their children. Wellington College is seen as a practical option due to its proximity to the family’s Windsor home and its co-educational environment.

Meanwhile, discussions continue over where Prince George may continue his education, with Eton College reportedly remaining a leading contender. Other schools linked to the family include Marlborough College and Oundle School.

While no decisions have been officially confirmed by the palace, royal commentators believe Charlotte is already emerging as one of the monarchy’s most significant future figures.
