UK Temperatures Could Reach 30C This Weekend

After a cool and unsettled start to June, warmer weather is finally on the horizon for parts of the UK. Forecasters say rising temperatures across Spain, Portugal, and France could help push UK temperatures close to 30°C by the weekend.

Cooler Conditions Continue for Now

Before the warmer air arrives, much of the UK will continue to experience changeable weather. Low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic are expected to bring spells of rain, fresh winds, and below-average temperatures through Tuesday and Wednesday.

Southern England, however, may begin to feel slightly milder as warmer air from mainland Europe gradually moves northward.

Temperatures Expected to Rise

As the week progresses, higher pressure is forecast to build from the south and southwest, bringing more settled weather and longer periods of sunshine, particularly across southern and eastern areas.

By Thursday and Friday, temperatures are expected to climb steadily. Current forecasts suggest parts of the South East and eastern England could see highs between 28°C and 30°C, with some locations potentially exceeding those values.

The warmer conditions are linked to an intense heat build-up across western Europe, where Spain, Portugal, and France are expected to experience significantly higher temperatures later this week.

Not Everyone Will Feel the Heat

The warmer weather is unlikely to be evenly distributed across the UK. Southern and eastern regions are expected to enjoy the highest temperatures and the best chances of sunshine.

Meanwhile, northern and northwestern areas will remain more exposed to Atlantic weather systems, bringing cooler air, occasional rain, and breezy conditions. Even so, any sunny intervals that develop will provide a welcome break from the recent unsettled weather.

Looking Ahead

With the Summer Solstice approaching next weekend and daylight hours near their annual peak, there will be plenty of opportunities for brighter and warmer conditions to develop. While not all areas will experience the same level of heat, many parts of the UK can look forward to a much more summery feel by the end of the week.
