Kanye West Faces Shocking On-Set Allegations
A model has filed a lawsuit against rapper and fashion designer Kanye West over an alleged incident that took place during the filming of a 2010 music video for La Roux’s song In for the Kill.
Jennifer An claims that while filming a scene with West, he unexpectedly grabbed her by the neck with both hands, smeared her makeup across her face, and placed his fingers in her mouth. Speaking on the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, An said the encounter left her feeling frightened, suffocated, and unsure of what was happening.
According to An, several models had been lined up for a scene, and West selected three women to appear with him. She alleges that after difficulties remembering his lines, West redirected the shoot and began interacting with her in a way that had not been discussed beforehand.
An recalled that West allegedly choked her with one hand before using both hands, then began touching her face and mouth. She also claimed he shouted words to the effect of, “This is art, I’m Picasso,” before leaving the set. She said she did not resist because she feared losing her job.
The scene was ultimately not included in the final version of the music video. An said she later asked La Roux’s lead singer, Elly Jackson, to ensure the footage would not be used. According to An, Jackson apologized for the incident at the time.
In 2024, An filed a lawsuit after reconnecting with Jackson and asking whether she remembered the event. An alleges that Jackson responded that she could never forget it and described it as “horrific.” Messages between the two have reportedly been submitted to the court as supporting evidence.
West’s legal team has denied wrongdoing and filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. They argue that the interaction was part of an artistic performance intended to reference the film American Psycho and is therefore protected under the First Amendment. His attorneys also contend that An voluntarily participated in the music video production and did not object to or leave the scene.
The lawsuit has not yet gone to trial, and the allegations remain unproven in court. Representatives for West and La Roux have not publicly commented on the claims.
