Trump Considers Rally Over 250th Concerts

President Donald Trump said he may replace planned musical performances tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations with a speech of his own following a wave of artist cancellations.

In a social media post on Saturday, May 30, Trump criticized performers who withdrew from the Great American State Fair, a 16-day celebration organized by his nonprofit, Freedom 250. Without naming individuals, he suggested some artists had lost confidence, describing the situation as musicians getting “the yips.”

The festival is scheduled to take place from June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and was originally promoted as a major entertainment event featuring well-known performers.

Among the latest acts to withdraw were country singer Martina McBride and the R&B group The Commodores. Both reportedly said they had agreed to participate believing the event would be nonpartisan.

As cancellations continued to grow, Trump said he was considering replacing the concerts with what he called an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally.” In his post, he criticized highly paid performers who, in his view, were unwilling to take part.

It remains uncertain whether the proposed rally would replace the concerts entirely or if some musical performances will still go ahead. Freedom 250 did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Trump’s remarks
