Koru too big? Bezos eyes sale of giant yacht
Reports suggest that Jeff Bezos may be looking to part ways with his massive $500 million superyacht, Koru, reportedly because its sheer size has become difficult to manage.
According to a source speaking to Page Six, the 417-foot sailing yacht — one of the largest in the world — has proven to be more of a logistical challenge than expected. The vessel is accompanied by a $75 million support ship, Abeona, though it’s unclear whether that would be included in any potential sale. Together, the two ships are said to cost around $30 million annually to operate.
Koru is known for its distinctive design, including a wooden figurehead modeled after Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sanchez. However, its high profile has reportedly made it difficult for the billionaire to travel discreetly.
The yacht also features security measures like water cannons intended to deter pirates — though they could just as easily be used to keep photographers at bay. Its design was inspired by the yacht Eos, owned by Barry Diller, but built on a significantly larger scale.

Despite its luxury — including a glass-bottom pool, multiple jacuzzis, a helipad, and accommodations for 18 guests with a crew of 36 — the yacht has faced practical limitations. In 2025, it was reportedly denied docking in Monaco during the Grand Prix due to its size and also struggled to access certain areas during Bezos and Sanchez’s wedding celebrations in Venice.
While Koru has hosted high-profile guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, and Usher, it appears that even for one of the world’s richest individuals, bigger doesn’t always mean better. A representative for Bezos has not commented on the reports.
