Harry marks Queen’s 100th with flowers
Prince Harry has quietly honored his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 100th birthday with a deeply personal gesture.
Despite living in the United States, the Duke of Sussex arranged for a large bouquet of flowers to be placed at the late Queen’s resting place at Windsor Castle. The tribute was made privately, reflecting Harry’s preference to commemorate the occasion away from public attention.
Over the years, Harry has made several low-key visits to Windsor during trips back to the UK, paying his respects to a grandmother he was once known to be very close to. While their relationship reportedly became strained following his decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, he has continued to honor her memory in his own way.
In 2023, he marked the first anniversary of her passing with a quiet visit to St George’s Chapel. He later returned again to reflect on the third anniversary, maintaining a pattern of private remembrance.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Royal Family publicly marked the milestone with a series of events. King Charles III paid tribute to his “darling mama” in a heartfelt video message, praising her lifelong dedication to service.
The King and Queen Camilla attended a presentation at the British Museum showcasing designs for the upcoming Queen Elizabeth Memorial. Elsewhere, Princess Anne opened the Queen Elizabeth II Garden at Regent’s Park in London.
Later, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales joined other senior royals at Buckingham Palace for a reception. The event brought together charities linked to the late Queen, along with centenarians who shared her April 21 birthday.
Following the Queen’s death in 2022, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, returned to the UK for her funeral. At the time, Harry shared an emotional tribute, describing his grandmother as a “guiding compass” admired across the world for her unwavering commitment to duty.
He reflected on cherished memories—from childhood moments to introducing her to his wife and children—expressing gratitude for their time together and the lasting impact she had on his life.
