Police drop case against Strictly star accused
A Strictly Come Dancing celebrity who was arrested on suspicion of rape last year will not face criminal charges, according to police.
The man, whose identity has not been made public, was arrested on 13 October 2025 and later released on bail while authorities carried out an investigation. Hertfordshire Police confirmed that after consulting the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), detectives concluded there was insufficient evidence to proceed with charges.
The allegation, first reported by The Sun, claimed the incident occurred following a BBC-related event. A source described the situation as deeply distressing for everyone involved, saying the accused individual had endured a difficult period and hoped the outcome would allow his name to be cleared.
It is understood that the allegation is not connected to the most recent season of Strictly Come Dancing. However, the long-running BAFTA-winning programme has recently faced increased scrutiny following several serious allegations involving individuals linked to the show.
In a separate case last August, another Strictly-associated figure was arrested on suspicion of rape as well as alleged non-consensual sharing of intimate images. That investigation is ongoing.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Hertfordshire Police said the individual’s bail had previously been extended to allow further enquiries but confirmed the case has now been closed with no further action due to lack of sufficient evidence.
