David and Victoria wish Brooklyn happy birthday
David and Victoria Beckham have publicly wished their eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, a happy birthday on Instagram, despite an ongoing family dispute that became public earlier this year.
Brooklyn, who turned 27 on Wednesday, previously revealed tensions within the family in a lengthy Instagram statement posted in January. In the six-page message, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham accused his parents of attempting to undermine his relationship with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz.
Although David and Victoria Beckham have not addressed the allegations directly, both shared affectionate birthday messages for their son on social media.
David Beckham posted a childhood photo of Brooklyn with him and Victoria in a swimming pool, writing: “Twenty-seven today,” followed by an emotional-eyes emoji and a white heart. “Happy birthday bust, we love you.” He also shared a black-and-white photo of himself with a young Brooklyn, adding: “Happy birthday Bust. Love you x.”
“Bust” or “Buster” is a nickname David has used for Brooklyn since he was born, and the former England football captain even has the name tattooed on his neck.
Victoria Beckham also posted a message celebrating her son’s birthday. Sharing a photo of herself holding Brooklyn as a toddler, she wrote: “Happy 27th birthday Brooklyn, I love you so much,” alongside several heart emojis.
The birthday tributes come two months after Brooklyn publicly detailed a breakdown in his relationship with his parents. In his January statement, he said he felt compelled to speak out after claiming his parents had “continued to go to the press.”
Among the accusations, Brooklyn alleged that his mother cancelled plans to design Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress shortly before the ceremony. He also claimed she behaved inappropriately during the wedding by dancing with him in a way he described as uncomfortable in front of guests.
Brooklyn further alleged that Nicola had been repeatedly disrespected by members of his family and said his father had refused to meet him during a birthday visit.
Neither David nor Victoria Beckham have publicly responded to the claims.
Accounts of the wedding events have also been disputed. DJ Fat Tony supported Brooklyn’s description of an awkward dance with his mother during the celebration. However, singer Marc Anthony, who attended the wedding, suggested that the situation had been portrayed inaccurately, saying the widely shared version of events was “hardly the truth.”
