Hamnet Leads Race at BAFTA Film Awards

The 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards brought together film and TV royalty at London’s prestigious Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night, with Maura Higgins leading the fashion pack ahead of a highly anticipated awards race between Hamnet, Sinners and One Battle After Another.

The star-studded ceremony, broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm, is hosted this year by Alan Cumming.

Red Carpet Highlights at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards

Reality TV favourite Maura Higgins made a dramatic entrance in a daring red evening gown adorned with intricate beaded detailing, instantly becoming one of the night’s most talked-about fashion moments.

Actress Sadie Sink stunned in a sage green satin strapless gown. The Stranger Things star wore her signature red hair sleek and straight, completing the look with sparkling silver jewellery.

Rege-Jean Page, best known for Bridgerton, looked sharp in a classic black three-piece suit, while Aimee Lou Wood opted for a romantic pale pink gown paired with a chic updo and bold red lipstick.

Meanwhile, Adolescence star Erin Doherty showcased a plunging neckline and flared skirt design, turning heads as she arrived at the glamorous London event.

Jesse Buckley Represents Hamnet in Awards Season Triumph

Best Actress nominee Jesse Buckley dazzled in a striking blue gown as she represented Hamnet on the red carpet.

Buckley has dominated awards season for her portrayal of Agnes Hathaway — historically known as Anne — the wife of William Shakespeare. The film, adapted from Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell and directed by Chloe Zhao, explores the family life of Shakespeare and the tragic death of their young son.

Hamnet made BAFTA history with 11 nominations, becoming the most-nominated female-directed film in the awards’ history. Its nods include Best Film, Outstanding British Film and Best Director for Zhao.

Co-stars Paul Mescal, who portrays Shakespeare, earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination, while Emily Watson is nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Sinners and One Battle After Another Add Star Power

Michael B Jordan, star of Sinners, looked effortlessly suave in a classic tuxedo as he posed for photographers ahead of the ceremony.

Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio also made a notable appearance on the red carpet, adding extra excitement to the evening.

With Hamnet, Sinners and One Battle After Another competing for major awards, anticipation is high for one of the most competitive BAFTA races in recent years.

Special Performances and Red Carpet Hosting

The BAFTA red carpet coverage is hosted by Made In Chelsea stars Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing.

Singer Jessie Ware is set to perform a special tribute during the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment, promising an emotional highlight during the glittering event.
