William Faces E-Scooter Ban at Windsor Home
The future King and his family recently relocated to Forest Lodge, a Grade II-listed residence situated inside the vast 4,800-acre park.
Under Windsor Great Park rules, motorised personal transport is prohibited for safety and traffic management reasons. While bicycles are allowed, scooters, e-scooters and similar vehicles are not permitted on the park’s internal roads, which are primarily reserved for residents and staff vehicles.
William, 43, had previously lived with his family at Adelaide Cottage on the separate Windsor Castle Estate, four miles away. The 655-acre estate allows e-scooters, and the Prince was often seen riding his 10mph model to meetings or around the grounds. He was also spotted on an e-scooter during filming for The Reluctant Traveller with actor Eugene Levy.

Speaking to Levy at the time, William joked: “It gets around quite nicely and it’s quite fun… I’m always late so I thought this would help me stay on time.” He then admitted he still turned up late for appointments, even after using the scooter.
Despite the new ban, some sources suggest that residents living within Windsor Great Park may still use e-scooters on roads directly near their homes. However, key areas remain strictly off-limits, including the famous 2.5-mile Long Walk leading up to Windsor Castle, where bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades are completely prohibited.
According to reports, William is happy to comply with the rules, with one insider saying: “He loved using his e-scooter as there was no ban at the Castle, but he’s more than willing to follow the regulations at Windsor Great Park.”
