Aldi issues urgent food recall warning as popular Christmas party snack poses potential health risk to allergy sufferers.
Supermarket giant Aldi has announced a product recall for its Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets after discovering the presence of an undeclared egg allergen, raising concerns about a possible health risk for consumers.
The recall was issued following advice from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), which confirmed that the product contains egg not listed on the label. This makes the item potentially dangerous for people with an egg allergy or egg intolerance.
Why Is Aldi Recalling the Product?
According to the FSA, undeclared allergens can pose serious health risks. In this case, the presence of egg means affected consumers could experience allergic reactions if the product is eaten.
In an official customer notice, Aldi said:
“We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”
What Should Customers Do?
Aldi is urging customers who have purchased Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets not to consume the product. Shoppers can return it to their nearest Aldi store, where they will receive a full refund, even without a receipt.
What Is a Food Recall?
A food recall happens when a product is removed from sale because it may be unsafe to eat. This differs from a withdrawal, which simply removes items from shelves before purchase.

The Food Standards Agency issues Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities about food safety issues. In more serious cases, the FSA may issue a Food Alert for Action, instructing local authorities to take immediate steps to protect consumers.
