Wenne Alton Davis Killed in NYC Car Crash
Wenne Alton Davis, an actress known for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died at 60 after being struck by a car in New York City. According to the NYPD, Davis — born Wendy Davis — was crossing West 53rd Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan on the night of Dec. 8 when a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 making a left turn fatally hit her.
Police confirmed that Davis suffered severe head and body trauma. Emergency responders transported her to Mount Sinai West, where she was pronounced dead. The 61-year-old driver remained at the scene and was uninjured. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad continues to review the incident.
A neighbor, Edward Reynoso, shared that earlier that day Davis told him, “I love you, I appreciate you,” a memory he described as bittersweet after her sudden death.
Davis was recognized for her role as a police officer in season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which aired in 2023 and marked her final onscreen appearance. Her acting career dates back to 2004, with credits in Ladies Room, Rescue Me, Shame, The Normal Heart, American Odyssey, Blindspot, New Amsterdam, and Girls5eva.
Her passing follows another tragedy connected to the Maisel cast. In 2019, actor Brian Tarantina, who played Jackie, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. The show later honored him with a heartfelt tribute.
Davis’s death marks a profound loss for the entertainment community and fans of the acclaimed Amazon Prime series.
