Crayola Magnetic Cube Toys Recalled Over Magnet Safety Hazard

CreateOn has issued a voluntary recall for approximately 9,400 Crayola-branded magnetic building cube sets, following concerns that loose magnets could pose a serious ingestion hazard to children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on December 4, noting that the magnets inside the Crayola “pip-Cubes” may become detached if the seams separate.

The recalled products were sold between May and July of this year through Amazon, Michaels stores nationwide, and Michaels’ online platforms. The affected sets include 24-piece and 27-piece collections from the “Bold Colors” and “Glitter pip-Cubes” series. Colors range from red, green, blue, and yellow to glittered versions in purple, pink, blue, and green. Each cube features the Crayola logo on the left side.

While no injuries have been reported, the CPSC warns that swallowed magnets can attract each other inside the digestive system, potentially causing life-threatening complications including intestinal perforations, twisting, blockage, blood poisoning, or even death.

CreateOn is offering consumers replacement products and will provide prepaid return labels for recalled items. The company emphasized its commitment to safety, stating it is cooperating fully with the CPSC and has already taken steps to notify customers and remove affected products from retail shelves.

Consumers seeking assistance or additional information can contact CreateOn toll-free at 800-333-0549 between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or refer to the recall pages on the CPSC and CreateOn websites.
