Star Footballer: ‘Rival’s Girlfriend Likes Me More’
Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has clarified that a viral video in which he claims to be “talking to a rival player’s girlfriend” was entirely scripted entertainment. The clip, filmed for Channel 4.0’s Savage Kids and Agony Aunties, showed Aina presenting a supposed “dilemma” about messaging another footballer’s partner.
During the episode, Aina joked that the woman “liked him more” and playfully suggested he could “easily” beat the unnamed rival in a one-on-one. The panel of kids and aunties responded with humour and advice, warning him about “clout chasing” and urging honesty.
However, as the clip spread across social media, Aina moved quickly to clarify the situation. In a Snapchat statement, he stressed that the storyline was not real:
“The show that is circulating was entirely scripted and created for entertainment. It does not reflect my life, my relationship, or anyone connected to me. I would never disrespect anyone like that.”
Aina, who has been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury, is still fighting to regain fitness ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, where he hopes to represent Nigeria in Morocco.
