After a Year Out of the Spotlight, Sandra Bullock Reemerges in Los Angeles
Sandra Bullock was seen in public for the first time in almost a year on Wednesday while driving around Los Angeles. The 61-year-old actress was photographed behind the wheel with her 15-year-old son, Louis, sitting in the front passenger seat. Their beloved white dog, Sweetie, was also spotted happily poking its head out of the car window.
The “Miss Congeniality” star has kept a low profile since the passing of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, who died from ALS. Randall’s family announced his death in a heartfelt statement, sharing that he passed away peacefully on August 5 after a private three-year battle with the disease.
“Bryan chose early on to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor that request,” the family said. They also expressed deep gratitude to the doctors and nurses who supported them throughout his illness, noting the sacrifices made along the way. The family requested privacy as they grieve and learn to accept “the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, gradually causes the brain to lose the ability to initiate and control voluntary muscle movements.
Bullock and Randall first met when she hired him to photograph Louis’ birthday party. The actress adopted Louis in 2010 and later adopted her daughter, Laila, in 2015. The couple made their red-carpet debut in 2015 at the premiere of Bullock’s film Our Brand Is Crisis. In 2021, while Randall was privately battling ALS, Bullock called him “the love of my life” during an appearance on Red Table Talk.
On what would have been Randall’s 58th birthday, Bullock honored him by releasing his ashes into the Snake River in Jackson Hole.
Before her recent outing, Bullock’s last public appearance was at a Lakers–Pistons game at Crypto.com Arena, where she appeared in good spirits, smiling and laughing in a private box.
