Prince Harry’s Palace Stay Falls Through Late
Prince Harry will not be staying at Buckingham Palace during his visit to London, despite earlier reports suggesting he would.
According to his spokesperson, the Duke of Sussex accepted an invitation to stay at the royal residence for part of his trip. However, palace sources said the offer was accepted too late for the necessary arrangements to be made, preventing the stay from going ahead.
Harry, 41, is in the UK to attend Invictus Games-related events and other charity engagements. Meghan Markle and the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are not accompanying him, reportedly due to ongoing concerns over security arrangements.
It remains unclear whether Meghan and the children will join Harry for any part of his UK visit. Attention is also focused on whether Harry will meet with his father, King Charles, during the trip. The pair last met privately at Clarence House in September, marking their first meeting since February 2024.
Sources say the family hopes Archie and Lilibet will have an opportunity to see their grandfather, whom they have not visited in several years. However, concerns over media attention and the absence of taxpayer-funded police protection continue to complicate any potential family reunion.
The Sussexes, who live in Montecito, California, have remained protective of their children’s privacy, sharing only occasional family moments on social media. Last month, Meghan posted a Father’s Day tribute featuring Harry with Archie and Lilibet, describing him as their “one and only.”
