Dubai Travel Advice Updated for UK Visitors
The UK government has eased its travel advice for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including Dubai, following signs of reduced tensions in the Middle East.
For several months, travel between the UK and the UAE was affected by regional conflict, with drone attacks and security concerns leading to flight disruptions and the suspension of some airline services. As a result, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) had advised against all but essential travel to the UAE since March.
Following a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, the FCDO updated its guidance on June 18 and removed its warning against non-essential travel. The change means that British travellers can once again visit the UAE without automatically affecting the validity of their travel insurance.
However, the FCDO has cautioned that the security situation remains uncertain. Officials warn that conditions could change quickly and that further attacks cannot be ruled out.
Advice for Travellers
Britons planning to visit Dubai are encouraged to review official government guidance before departure and familiarise themselves with procedures for dealing with emergencies overseas. Travellers should stay informed through local authorities, international news sources, and FCDO travel alerts.
Experts also recommend avoiding areas near military or security installations, keeping travel plans flexible, and ensuring passports and other important documents are current and accessible.
If security conditions deteriorate and authorities advise people to take shelter, travellers should remain indoors and move to the safest available location, preferably a room or stairwell with limited exposure to windows and external walls. Officials note that falling debris from intercepted missiles or drones may present a significant hazard during periods of unrest.
Flight Services Gradually Returning
Although the travel warning has been relaxed, not all airlines are immediately resuming services to the UAE.
Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that its suspension of flights to the UAE will remain in place until winter 2027. British Airways also does not expect to restart its UAE operations before October 2026.
Meanwhile, Emirates continues to operate flights to and from Dubai, providing travellers with ongoing access to the destination.
Current Outlook
While the UK government no longer advises against non-essential travel to the UAE, travellers are urged to remain vigilant and monitor developments closely. Dubai remains open to visitors, but officials stress that the wider regional situation remains unpredictable and could change at short notice.
