Samsung Sued Over Unauthorized Dua Lipa Image Use
Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million (£11 million) lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the tech giant of using her image on television packaging in the United States without permission.
The lawsuit, submitted on Friday to a federal court in California, claims Samsung featured a photograph of the singer’s face on packaging for several TV models in an attempt to benefit from her popularity and commercial appeal.
According to court documents, the image was taken during Dua Lipa’s performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2024, and the singer says she owns the copyright to the photograph.
The filing includes allegations of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and unauthorized use of her likeness. Dua Lipa’s legal team says the company continued using the image despite receiving multiple requests to stop.
The singer reportedly became aware of the packaging in June 2025 after fans began sharing photos online, referring to the product as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.” The lawsuit also cites social media comments from users who suggested her image influenced their interest in purchasing the televisions.
Dua Lipa, known for major brand partnerships with companies including Puma, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Apple, Porsche, Chanel, and Nespresso, argues that her image carries significant commercial value and should not be used without authorization.
Samsung has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
The singer’s latest album, Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
