Warm Weather Returns Across the UK

The UK is expected to enjoy a significant warm-up this weekend, with temperatures forecast to climb as high as 29C in some areas. According to the Met Office, more than 30 counties across the country could see temperatures of 26C or above as summer-like conditions return after a spell of cooler, wetter weather.

Forecasters say the unsettled conditions that have dominated much of this week will gradually give way to warmer and drier weather from Saturday onwards. Met Office Chief Forecaster Paul Gundersen said temperatures will remain below average for a few more days, although sunshine between showers will still provide pleasant conditions in some places.

The warmer weather is expected to become established over the weekend and continue into next week. Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said many locations are likely to experience above-average temperatures, with highs ranging between 27C and 29C. Some areas could even record temperatures higher than that.

The forecast suggests a prolonged spell of warm and dry weather, offering a welcome return of summer conditions across much of the country.

However, authorities are also urging people to take care around rivers, lakes, reservoirs and coastal areas as temperatures rise. Safety warnings follow a number of recent water-related tragedies during a period of unusually warm weather earlier this year.

The warmest conditions are expected across a wide area of England and Wales, including counties such as Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and several others, where temperatures are forecast to reach at least 26C.

Meteorologists expect the warmer pattern to remain in place well into next week, bringing a sustained period of sunshine and above-average temperatures to many parts of the UK.
