Global superstar Adele is officially stepping into the world of acting. According to Deadline, the Grammy-winning singer is set to make her long-awaited acting debut in director Tom Ford’s new film, Cry to Heaven—a cinematic adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name.

Ford has written the screenplay and will also direct and produce the project through his Fade To Black production company. The film is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with principal photography scheduled to begin in mid-January.

What Is Cry to Heaven About?

Set in 18th-century Italy, the story follows the intertwined lives of a Venetian nobleman and a castrated opera singer. The novel centers on Guido Maffeo, who is castrated at the age of six and rises to fame as a vocalist before tragically losing his voice. He later becomes a teacher, searching for a gifted boy who can achieve the dreams he no longer can.

Expected Release Date

Cry to Heaven is slated for a Fall 2026 release, making Adele’s transition into acting one of the most anticipated entertainment moments of the coming years.
