London Transport Declines Women-Only Underground Plan
Transport for London (TfL) has officially declined a proposal to introduce women-only carriages on the London Underground.
The decision comes after a public petition calling for safer travel options for women collected more than 13,000 signatures. Supporters of the proposal argued that women-only carriages could help reduce harassment and improve safety on public transport.

In response, TfL stated that it does not support the introduction of gender-segregated carriages, noting that such measures would not address the root causes of harassment. Instead, the transport authority said it remains focused on improving passenger safety through measures such as increased staff presence, enhanced CCTV coverage, and closer cooperation with the police.
TfL added that it will continue to invest in initiatives aimed at making the transport network safer and more inclusive for all passengers.
