Strictly Come Dancing Star Arrested on Suspicion of Rape in New Blow for BBC Show
A male Strictly Come Dancing star has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of rape, marking another major setback for the long-running BBC dance competition. According to The Sun, the unnamed man was taken into custody in connection with an alleged incident that occurred in 2024 after a BBC event.
Arrest and Investigation Confirmed by Police
Hertfordshire Police confirmed the arrest, stating that the man was detained in London on Monday, 13 October and later released on police bail while investigations continue.
Police said in a statement:
“A man was released on police bail under investigation having been arrested in London on Monday 13 October on suspicion of rape.

BBC Responds: ‘Inappropriate to Comment’
A BBC spokesperson declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation:
“It would not be appropriate to comment on an ongoing police investigation.”
Strictly Facing Turbulence Amid Presenter Exits
The arrest comes shortly after long-time hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they would step down at the end of the current series, sparking speculation that the BBC might pause the show after this season.
A source told The Sun:
“This is an absolute nightmare for the BBC – a heartbreaking situation.
Bosses have done their utmost to steady the ship and make the show as scandal-free as possible, and yet now this has happened.
The BBC is taking this very seriously and will absolutely offer support to all concerned.”
