Princess of Wales Shares Heartfelt Message to Cancer Patients
The Catherine, Princess of Wales has renewed her message of hope and solidarity to cancer patients, marking World Cancer Day with a moving video message in which she speaks openly about “fear and exhaustion” during her own journey.
In the video, read by the Princess, her words are accompanied by footage from her visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital last year. Kate, who revealed 12 months ago that her cancer was in remission, reflected on the emotional reality of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
“On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery,” she said. “Cancer touches so many lives — not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them.”
She continued: “As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection. Today is a reminder of the importance of care, understanding and hope. Please know you are not alone.”
The message echoes her emotional address in March 2024, when she publicly announced her diagnosis, describing it as a “huge shock” following an “incredibly tough couple of months.” At the time, she reassured the public that she was “well and getting stronger every day,” while urging others affected by cancer not to lose faith or hope.

Kate confirmed she was in remission in January last year and later spoke of her relief during a solo visit to Royal Marsden Hospital. During that visit, she reflected on the overwhelming nature of receiving a diagnosis, saying: “It’s the uncertainty of that initial diagnosis. It’s such a wealth of information… a massive amount to take on as a patient.” She also highlighted the importance of continuity of care both in clinical settings and at home.
The Princess’s latest message comes shortly after she returned to public duties. She appeared alongside Prince William at an engagement in Cardigan, Wales, where she visited Hiut Denim, a family-owned company manufacturing premium jeans in the UK. Kate was greeted by a seven-year-old English cocker spaniel named Barney — the same breed as her own dog, Orla — and later joked during a group photo, “I feel like I should have worn a pair of jeans.”
Her return to engagements has been warmly received, with many praising her openness and compassion. Through her words and actions, the Princess of Wales continues to offer comfort and reassurance to those facing cancer, reinforcing her central message: no one has to face it alone.
