Princess Kate Leads Remembrance Ceremony
Princess Kate, the Princess of Wales, led heartfelt Remembrance Day tributes at the National Memorial Arboretum in Lichfield, Staffordshire, as Britain honoured its fallen war heroes. The Princess observed a two-minute silence at 11 a.m. before laying a wreath in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The ceremony, attended by thousands, featured a specially commissioned poem by the Arboretum’s Poet in Residence, Arji Manuelpillai, reflecting on personal connections, courage, and bonds formed through military service — themes close to the Princess’s heart.
After the service, Kate met with veterans and schoolchildren from military families, including those with parents currently deployed overseas. She also viewed newly dedicated names on the Armed Forces Memorial and visited the special exhibition “Letters from the Frontline – Words, War and Victory,” created with BBC local radio to explore the emotional experiences of servicemen and women during the final months of World War II.
Earlier in the weekend, the Princess joined King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William for the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. The royal family observed the two-minute silence as King Charles, dressed in his field marshal uniform, led the nation in honouring the fallen.
Later, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a touching message:
“On Remembrance Sunday, we pause to reflect on the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of all who have served – and continue to serve – in defence of our freedoms. We remember them, today and always. Lest We Forget.”
On Saturday, Kate attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall with King Charles and Prince George. She wore an elegant Alessandra Rich dress adorned with the HMS Glasgow Brooch and earrings once owned by Queen Elizabeth II. Her handcrafted poppy, made from silk and glass by Izzy Ager of Lock & Co., symbolised remembrance and resilience.
Princess Kate’s presence throughout the Remembrance weekend highlighted her deep respect for the Armed Forces and her continuing commitment to supporting veterans and military families across the UK.
