King Charles III is reportedly reconsidering the severity of recent measures taken against his brother, Prince Andrew, amid claims of behind-the-scenes efforts to ease the Duke of York’s isolation.
According to sources close to the royal household, the monarch has been showing renewed sympathy toward Prince Andrew following a series of strict sanctions that significantly reduced his royal status and privileges.
Prince Andrew Stripped of Titles and Royal Privileges
Buckingham Palace confirmed on October 30 that King Charles III ordered Prince Andrew to be stripped of his remaining royal titles and honours. The decision was followed by further consequences, including the loss of royal benefits and the requirement that Andrew vacate Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Daily Mail columnist Ephraim Hardcastle reported that the Duke of York also faced “behind-the-scenes degradations,” including the removal of Royal staff previously funded by the King. Deliveries from Windsor Castle’s kitchens were reportedly halted, and Andrew was allegedly instructed to “stay out of sight” until arrangements were made for his relocation.
Despite these measures, insiders suggest the King may now be regretting how far the sanctions went.
King Charles ‘Frequently Telephoning’ Prince Andrew
While Prince Andrew has reportedly asked not to be treated like a “commoner,” King Charles is said to be considering his plea. Sources claim the monarch has been telephoning his brother regularly and has quietly reinstated limited access to staff and stables.
These developments point to a possible softening of the Palace’s stance, even as Andrew remains excluded from public royal duties.

Separately, King Charles has been named the hardest-working royal of 2025, overtaking his sister Princess Anne, who has long held the top spot.
Research conducted by royal expert Patricia Treble for The Mirror revealed that the 77-year-old monarch carried out 532 engagements over the past year, despite undergoing cancer treatment. This placed him 50 engagements ahead of Princess Anne, who completed 478 engagements up to December 18.
Extensive Royal Duties at Home and Abroad
In addition to a busy domestic schedule, King Charles represented the United Kingdom on multiple overseas visits, including trips to Poland, Canada, Italy and Vatican City. He also marked major anniversaries and held meetings with global leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Princess Anne, 75, ranked second with 478 engagements, travelling to South Africa, Ukraine, Australia and Singapore. Prince Edward, 61, placed third with 313 engagements, while his wife Sophie, 60, completed 235. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh also undertook joint overseas visits to Nepal and Japan.

As King Charles continues to maintain a demanding public schedule, reports of renewed contact with Prince Andrew highlight the ongoing tension between royal duty and family loyalty within the House of Windsor. Whether the King’s apparent change of heart will lead to a more permanent easing of restrictions on his brother remains to be seen.
