Hugh Jackman Gives a Surprising Wolverine Retirement Update

Hugh Jackman is once again opening the door to returning as Wolverine—despite years of insisting he was officially done with the role.

During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 57-year-old actor revealed that he is now considering reprising the iconic mutant character that launched him into global stardom.

“Maybe. I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again,” Jackman admitted. “I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years.”

He then joked, “I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!”

Jackman has portrayed the adamantium-clawed superhero in ten films, most recently in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Back in 2015, he stated he was finished with the character, especially after Wolverine’s emotional death in 2017’s Logan. However, he stunned fans when he returned seven years later for Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, starring alongside Ryan Reynolds. The movie went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated film in history, earning over £1 billion worldwide.

During the show, Jackman also promoted his upcoming film Song Sung Blue, which co-stars Kate Hudson.

Praising Hudson’s performance, he said:

“Whatever expectations I had of Kate, she came in and blew straight past them. She is a force of nature and honestly it is one of the best performances you will ever see. She is extraordinary.”nestly it is one of the best performances you will ever see. She is extraordinary.”
