Ronaldo and Georgina Plan Elegant Madeira Wedding

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are preparing for a luxurious wedding celebration in Madeira, with local newspaper Jornal da Madeira reporting that the couple will host their reception at an upscale hotel in Funchal. The venue carries deep personal meaning for Ronaldo, as it is located just 1.5 miles from the hospital where he was born and close to the grounds of Nacional da Madeira, one of the clubs where he developed his talent as a young footballer.

The global superstar and the Argentine-Spanish model announced their engagement in August after more than nine years together. Ronaldo, 40, recently shared intimate details about his spontaneous proposal, which happened in the early hours of the morning.

Speaking to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo recalled:

“It was like 1am. My daughters were sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring and as I was offering it to Gio, my two kids came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum.’ I knew it was the right moment.”

Although he didn’t get down on one knee, Ronaldo described the moment as emotional and heartfelt, admitting he is “romantic in my own way.” The £1.5 million ring symbolized their long-standing relationship and his deep commitment to Rodríguez, whom he called “the woman of my life.”

A Family Built on Love and Resilience

Ronaldo is the father of five children. He shares daughters Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda with Georgina. His eldest son, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010, followed by twins Eva and Mateo via surrogacy in 2017. In 2022, the couple faced the devastating loss of their newborn son, Angel — a tragedy that, Ronaldo says, strengthened their bond.

Reflecting on the difficult period, he told Morgan:

“We always support each other. That moment consolidated our relationship. Even in the worst moments, you have to be united. Everything happens for a reason, and we are a blessed family.”

Their relationship began in 2016, when Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Despite their global fame, he revealed that Rodríguez prefers intimate, private celebrations over extravagant events.

“She doesn’t like big parties,” Ronaldo said. “I will respect that.”

Looking Ahead to Their Special Day

The couple had initially hoped to marry after the World Cup, ideally celebrating with the trophy. Although the timing changed, their commitment remains unwavering. Ronaldo emphasized that Georgina cared more about sincerity than the lavish ring.

“She asked if I was honest. I told her, ‘I want you and I want to marry you.’”

As the wedding approaches, the island of Madeira prepares to welcome home one of its most iconic natives for a celebration steeped in love, resilience, and personal history.
